Computer Security Lab (DCSL) at UHCL
A.
Positions Note: Multiple positions are available.
1)
Research assistants in Secure Network Development
Responsibilities -
o
Evaluate the
existing DCSL networks for performance and security enhancement
o
Deploy security and
network technologies to enhance the DCSL networks
o
Administer the
DCSL networks to support educational and research uses of the lab
o
Develop
tutorials, user manuals, course modules, and research papers for publications
2) Research assistants in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN)
Responsibilities -
o
Design and
evaluate algorithms for wireless sensor networks (WSN)
o
Refine an
existing wireless sensor network algorithm for detecting intruding objects
(vehicles, persons, etc.)
o
Develop an
algorithm for effective large-scale deployment of wireless sensor networks
o Implement wireless sensor networks using simulators and/or real sensors
o
Develop
tutorials, user manuals, course modules, and research papers for publications
B. Required Qualifications:
o Self-started and enthusiastic in getting
the jobs done!
o Interested in pursuing research and
publishing refereed papers
o Good verbal and written communication
skills (or strongly interested in learning those skills)
o Strong programming capabilities in C and
Java
C. Preferred Qualifications:
o
Pursuing
the thesis option
o
Good
understanding of computer security, networking protocols, and web-based
application development
o
Previous
course work in csci5233 Computer Security, csci5234 Web Security, csci5235
Network Security, or csci5931 Wireless & Sensor Networks
o
Good
academic standing
D. Source of Funding: These RA positions are supported by an Advanced Research Program (ARP) grant awarded by the Texas Higher Education Coordination Board (THECB) and a CCLI grant awarded by the National Science Foundation.
E. Start of Appointment: Immediately (with possible continuation in the following semesters,
depending on performance and funding); appointment level is
50% FTE (20 hours per week).

at Delta), and deliver it to D101 (c/o Dr. Yang).
2. Send an

resume, in which highlight your qualifications corresponding to the positions.
3. During
the interview, bring an up-to-date transcript and relevant information
(projects, reports, papers, etc.).
