ENSC 5530
Research Methods in Environmental Science
This course is the second in the three-course core required of all graduate ENSC students. STAT 5135 must be complete as a prerequisite. In ENSC 5530, each student prepares the research proposal for his/her project or thesis. Course topics include literature searches, reviewing peer-reviewed literature, writing methods and protocols, human/animal subjects, expected results, timelines and budgets. Students present their proposals in a public session at the end of the course. Students must successfully complete ENSC 5530 before beginning research on their projects.
Enrollment in ENSC 5530 requires a research topic approved by the student's advisor and permission of the course instructor. ENSC 5530 is taught on a rotating basis by most of the ENSC faculty and is offered every spring and fall term.
