BIOL 4233

Field Biology

This course introduces students to the theory, tools and techniques used to evaluate ecological communities.   The course is experiment based and gives students hands-on experience in field methods, statistical analyses and scientific report writing.   Experiments cover habitat assessments, aquatic and terrestrial sampling, water quality analysis, species diversity, vegetation analysis and mark-recapture sampling.  On-campus and off-campus field work is required.

BIOL 4233 is an elective course for undergraduate BIOL majors and  ENSC-Biol majors.  Prior completion of an ecology course is highly recommended. 

BIOL 4233 is offered once per year in the summer or fall term.
