BIOL 4135
Biology Practicum
This course is open to BIOL and ENSC-Biol majors and provides opportunities for projects and non-paid internships at several off-campus sites. Current practicum partners include Moody Gardens (aquarium, rainforest and lab internships), Galveston Bay Foundation (field projects), Baytown Wetlands Center (field and educational internships) and PBS&J (environmental toxicology internships).
A commitment of at least 10 hours per week during the 15-week fall or spring semester, or 18 hours per week in the 9-week summer term, is required. Prerequisites include senior standing, approval of course instructor, and interview/acceptance by practicum partner prior to registration. Course grades are based on performance in the practicum (evaluated by practicum partner staff) and a final report written by the student (evaluated by course instructor and practicum partner). This course satisfies the IS/Internship/Seminar requirement for ENSC-Biol majors and serves as an elective for BIOL majors.
BIOL 4135 is offered every spring, summer and fall term.
