
The Computer Science department hires a significant number of graduate students to serve as teaching assistants (TA) of CSCI courses. The main duties of the TA is to assist the instructor to answer student questions and grade homework.
To apply, obtain, complete and return the TA application form to the Associate Dean's office, located in Bayou 3611. Make sure that you have satisfied all the elgibility requirements. Make sure that the email in the form is a working one. If you are interested to serve as a TA of a specific course, you may want to introduct yourself to the instructor to find out more about the course.
If you are chosen for TA position, the following steps must be taken:
- Document Your Eligibility to Work Prior to Start of Work. You will NOT be paid for any work done prior to completing your I-9 documentation.
- Present driver's license and social security card or passport at the Office of Human Resources, Bayou Room 1111. Complete the INS Form I-9.
- All employees must document as required by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- Complete Your Administration Paperwork
- Administrative forms are provided in the Temporary/Part Time Employment Manuals available in Bayou Room 3611.
- Return Your Completed Paperwork in Bayou Room 3611

- Upon completion of necessary paperwork, you may request information about insurance benefits that are available to you based on your student employment.
There will be an orientation for TA at the beginning of every semester and all TA must attend.
Note that students need to have an approved Candidate Plan of Studies (CPS) to be hired as a TA.
