The Computer science program has several dedicated laboratories to support its research, courses and curriculum. These laboratories are administered by CS students under the supervision of Ms. Krishani Abeysekera, our lecturer and Systems administrator.

Systems Administration labThe Windows laboratory (Delta 119, location) is open 24 hours a day. It contains 30 PCs running Windows XP and supports a large collection of software, include .NET Visual Studio, Rational's Enterprise suite, Macromedia Studio, etc.

The Unix/Solaris Lab (Delta 158, location) contains 30 Sun's workstations running Solaris. It provides the Unix development environment for various programming languages used in several CSCI courses, including Java, Perl, C/C++, Lisp, Tcl/Tk, Bison, Ruby, etc.

The Systems Administration Lab (also in Delta 158, location) contains 20 Linux workstations for SA assignments. It accepts removable hard drives for easy experimentation.

The computer security laboratory (also in Delta 158, location) was launched by Dr. Andrew Yang through a National Science Foundation grant . It contains 30 workstations and notebooks to support several courses in security.

With the exception of the computer security laboratory, students requesting support should contact Ms. Krishani Abeysekera. Technical questions can be directed to her or her research and administration assistant, Mr. Michael Mastracchio. Questions for the computer security laboratory should be directed to Dr. Andrew Yang.

UHCL maintains open university laboratories through University Computing and Telecommunications (UCT). The PC laboratories in the second floor the Delta Building are especially handy to Computer Science students. Requests and technical questions concerning university labs should be directed to the UCT Academic Laboratory Support Center.
