Dr. Morris M. Liaw is an associate professor in Computer Science and Information Systems. He has over 24 years of academic experience and 6 years of business and industrial experiences. Dr. Liaw has been a principal investigator for several projects, including the Wireless Network and Mobile Database, the Object-Oriented Database Laboratory funded by TQM/UHCL, and the Software Engineering Ada Database funded by NASA/JSC. He was also a co-principal investigator for the Re-configurable LAN-Based Laboratory funded by NSF.

Dr. Liaw's current research interests are in e-Commerce, Web Database Development and Administration, Wireless Network and Mobile Databases, XML Database, Object-Oriented Database, e-Security, Database Security. He introduces many leading edge technologies including Object-Oriented, Internet, J2EE and Security technologies into his teaching and research at UHCL. A partial list includes ASP.NET, Java Servlets, JSP, PHP, PL/SQL, SQLJ, XML, XSL, WML, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Gemstone, ObjectStore, OSJI, PGP Security, and RSA Security.
