The undergraduate Computer Science program has the following objectives:
- CS students will be able to apply problem solving, basic scientific methods, and mathematics in the design and analysis of software systems.
- CS students will be able to apply core computer science and computer engineering fundamentals in the design and analysis of software systems. This capability includes the specification, design, implementation, and testing of software systems that meet or exceed requirements, performance, cost and quality criteria.
- CS students will be able to work in groups and/or to supervise the plan, design, implementation, and testing of real-world computer software projects, using current software tools.
- CS students will understand professional and ethical responsibility.
- CS students will be able to clearly convey technical material through both formal written papers and oral presentations.
- CS students will be able to engage in life long learning achieved by participating in individual and group projects in which the students must discover the solution and develop the knowledge themselves.

This set of objectives is the driver of our curriculum and is used for both the ABET accreditation of the program and the SACS accreditation of the university.
